Meet the Public Adjuster

Meet the Public Adjuster: Michael Creed

Welcome to our continuing ‘Meet the Public Adjuster’ series, featuring members of the Professional Loss Adjusters team. We hope you enjoy getting to know our Adjusters. We feel lucky to have team members who are so knowledgeable about our industry and care deeply about the well-being of our clients.

1. How did you become a Public Adjuster?

I was working at an insurance company and I met a public adjuster. I made the mistake of calling the PA back early and he offered me a job. I decided to take it because it was a better career choice.

2. How does PLA stand out from other firms you’ve worked for?

People work more as a team here. We are also given a lot of freedom to do what we need to do to help our clients.

3. Is it ever to someone’s advantage to handle property damage without involving the insurance company?

On smaller claims (less than $15,000-$20,000) people should consider handling on their own. That said, even a small claim can use our help.

5. You were President of MAPIA for 10 years. What was your biggest success as President of the Massachusetts Association of Public Insurance Adjusters (MAPIA)?

As a group, we were able to get MAPIA very active again, due to the fact that MA started requiring continuing ed. It gave us a united purpose so that more people became active. This was a team effort. There was no “me” or “I” – this was a group effort to revitalize our organization. Today we have 70-80 active members attending meetings twice a year.

6. You’ve handled thousands of claims during your career it’s safe to say. Are there any that stand out?

They all stand out in some way, shape, or form because every claim is different. It also depends on who the players are. Every claim is situational and has its own story.

7. What do you like to do in your spare time?

I’m active in the Medway Lions’ Club. I love to spend time with my family and root for Boston Sports Teams.
